the fatal flaw of the prophetic movement

I enjoyed the prophetic movement for many years, almost a decade. But Satan and its minions have infiltrated what had begun as a move of the Spirit.
Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits, whether they are of God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world.1 John 1:4
That scripture is in a nutshell what has made it so wrong, an inability or resistance to check everything against the word of God. I know this first hand, some warning signs had been there, but how can something that feels so good be bad?
I had noticed some unscriptural teachings, but still carried on, what made me take a second look was a close relative.
A few years ago we had a prayer meeting, and she came with a stuffed animal, a monkey, on her back. When questioned about it she proclaimed that God had told her to put it on.
I did not know this at the time, but for many, having a monkey on your back is to have a demon.
Dictionaries online say that the meaning is: to have a drug habit, to have a burden, something that you have to take care of. I like this explanation from Yahoo answers:
The phrase is derived from the notion that monkeys cling to things with their hands and their feet (they have opposable foot thumbs) and, were a monkey to climb onto your back where you can't reach him, you would have a very difficult time removing the monkey from your back, no matter what you tried, if the monkey chose not to climb down. What this implies is, by "having a monkey on your back," the negative situation has taken on a life of its own and is willfully imposing itself on you.
I dared not say anything to her, but began to seriously questioning the prophetic movement, specially since this person has become a leader at a ministry here in town. Through the years I have seen even more bizarre actions take place, of course these can be dismissed by the Biblical prophets actions (lie on your left side for 390 days, marry a prostitute). And as some say this is a fine line about judging these actions, but there is one that cannot be denied:
Therefore by their fruits you will know them.
Matthew 7:20
So instead of writing an even longer post, I leave you with these things, become a Berean (Acts 17:10) , check the fruit (Matthew 7, Luke 6) and watch this YouTube video named The False Revival (comparison).
Something of note: after watching said video I asked God for forgiveness for ever opening myself to false spirits, without checking and praying, I rebuked the enemy and any spirit that is not from God, and there was a strong demonic manifestation, which left afterwards.
